Prestatyn Town FC is pleased to announce that creative forward and assist leader Ben Maher has extended his contract at Bastion Gardens until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Maher has been a hugely effective player under Neil Gibson for a number of years, and continues to score and create goals with efficient style. Gibbo was clearly excited to continue working with the player, saying: “I'm delighted that Ben has decided to stay for at least another season. This signing is another one that shows the club is moving in the right direction.
“Ben has been fantastic for us over the last 3 seasons. The fact that he chose to come back to us over staying in the WPL with Caernarfon Town and the possibility of European football. We were in a predicament, and the lad sacrificed greater financial reward to help his hometown club - and that speaks volumes about his character. He's been asked to play in a number of roles to help the team this season, but he's always played to the highest level. Ben will be instrumental in what we want to achieve next season and beyond. I'm looking forward to continue working with him, as his enthusiasm to learn and improve is infectious.”
Maher himself commented: “I'm made up to have signed for Town for another season. It was never going to be a difficult decision for me with this being my hometown club.
“The club is going in the right direction and I'm excited to be a part of it. Recreating what we did 3 years ago in winning the league would be amazing for everyone involved with the club. Gibbo being the gaffer obviously made my decision that bit easier. I can honestly say he's the best manager I've played for at any level of football and I can't wait to get back to work.”
